Ullapool Hill Viewpoint
This viewpoint was designed during my 6th year at high school and the following summer. It was completed on site in 2002. Designed for the Ullapool Community Forest gGroup, it is sited up Ullapool Hill at the back of Ullapool. The overall design and drawing work is mine, the poetry is Lauren Macloed’s and the stonework was built by Brian Wilson.

The display is engraved in a metal sheet mounted on the stone cairn-like form. It was designed out of a response to its place. Sited near the former location of the ‘radio hut’ it marks the point where, for example when I was in primary school we would climb to as a destination, where the views out and along the loch begin to show. Hills are sighted across the centre of the circle, the missing section corresponds to the direction where the hill continues higher (also it provides a good place to shelter from the wind)
